Famous Techno Artists

Techno has only been around for a relatively short amount of time. However, the genre has already produced some of the most successful music artists of all time. There are several techno bands and singers who are worth listening to. Some rose to fame as early as the 80s, whereas others are more recent.

Daft Punk

The French duo Daft Punk are known for their distinctive robot helmets. During the 90s they were part of the house movement. Since then Daft Punk have experimented with several genres such as funk and classical. However, they are mostly recognised for their techno tracks.

Electric Six

The techno punk group Electric Six come from Detroit, Michigan. They combine techno, disco, new wave and punk rock. Their biggest hit to date is Danger! High Voltage. An excellent example of their electro style is the track Synthesiser, which is their love letter to the genre.

Pet Shop Boys

This English synth band is made up of singer Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe. They were one of the biggest pop duos of the 80s. 42 of their singles have reached the top 30 UK chart. Some of their biggest hits include Always On My Mind, It’s A Sin and West End Girls.

GUNSHIP

GUNSHIP is a relatively new band as they were founded in 2014. Their techno music is inspired by pop culture such as comic books, cartoons, video games and classic movies. Their second album Dark All Day contains collaborations from Tim Cappello, Wil Wheaton and Richard K. Morgan.

Giorgio Moroder

Giorgio Moroder is a musical pioneer who helped to establish the electronic and techno genres. During the 70s and 80s, he was revered for his pop song compositions. He wrote a large number of disco tracks for Donna Summer. Perhaps his most famous work is the soundtrack for the film Flashdance.

Lady Gaga

During the late 2000s, Lady Gaga established herself as one of the most popular electro artists. She is known for her quirky stage persona and catchy club songs. She has gone on to have a successful acting career in American Horror Story, and A Star Is Born.
